News Bulletin & Haberdashery:
SPRING ALLERGIES ISSUE
16toads Design's News Bulletin and Haberdashery: A not-so-bland newsletter that demands your attention.
We've started off the year with a host of new changes at 16toads Design, not the least of which was a CMS make-over for our web site. We also made significant changes to our code in an effort to improve our web accessibility and user-interface. That said, 2008 has started off with a bang and we hope to hear from everyone in the coming months. Give us a call, if only just to say "Hi".
Lux Salon Launches New Site

Lux Salon turned to 16toads to help them quickly create an entire brand package and web presence for their newly renamed and reinvented salon. We worked closely with the owners to create a design solution that blends the simple elegance of their style with the rustic nature of their studio environment.

AFLAC Campus Map

PencilBox asked 16toads Design to create an interactive flash map for their client, AFLAC. AFLAC was looking to "comtemporize" and improve the feel of an outdated map they had been using in their sales presentations and campus orientations for new employees.
The illustration was rendered using Adobe Illustrator and then imported into Flash to add the interactive features.

Tips for Avoiding Allergens
Around the House
• Wash hands and rinse eyes in cold water to clear residual pollen.
• Keep windows closed and the car sunroof shut.
• Change air filters once a month; wash electrostatic filters.
• Attic fans suck pollen into the house; don't use them.
• Outdoor pets are covered in ragweed; wash them frequently and don't let pets on the bed.
• Allergens linger in carpets and rugs; Vacuum frequently.
Outdoors
• Don't dry your laundry outside.
• Shower after spending extended time outdoors.
• Wear glasses or sunglasses outdoors to prevent pollen from irritating the eyes.
• Minimize your activity between 5-10 a.m when pollen is usually emitted.
• A prolonged rain scrubs pollen out of the air, but a brief downpour may cause settled particles to become airborne, raising pollen counts.
• Avoid mowing the lawn or raking leaves; if you cannot avoid yardwork, wear a pollen mask.
• Allergy sufferers should take medications at least one hour before heading outdoors.
