Spring Time at Luke’s Home

Spring Time at Luke’s Home
We still remember the time we wrote to you last Christmas, updating about our ministry and family, and now in the blink of eyes, it is Spring 2009 and day light saving time began already. This spring has been a good family time for us.

Our daughter Julia is 6 months and she is a happy baby, always smiles at people. We are grateful so far she is easy to take care, with daily improved eating and sleeping schedule. Now she is more capable of sitting with support, and grabbing things in front of her. Every time when she wakes up from her sleep or nap, she is always excited to see us with a big smile, hands waving, and legs kicking. This is the greatest joy of parenting and we can imagine how God feels when we response to Him.

Our son Joseph continues his academic learning at kindergarten. This month he will get a perfect attendance certificate for the past 5 months, and he loves his class. In addition to his school work, he also plays soccer through American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). Observing 5 year-old boys playing in the field, we gain some insights of our Christian life. First, these 5 year-old boys need to be constantly reminded where their goal is. We often hear the coaches calling them, “turn around, turn around”, and “this way”. As Christians, sometimes we forget our goal of life, and lose the perspective of eternality. We get tangled with world and our busy life, and especially in time of this economic crisis, we have anxiety, worry, and fear. So we desperate need to hear His voice to remind us to turn around, and to focus our eyes on Him.

Secondly, these boys have no concept of team work. They push away their team members and try to kick the ball to the goal by themselves. Many times they fail because their team members are at a better position to get or shoot the ball. As adults in the house of God, we like to be self-sufficient without the help of others. We forget the function of a body and try to fight the battle on our own strength. It never works.

It is a great learning for parents as we watch our kids and grow with them. They are mirrors of our strength and weakness. We can only rely on His wisdom and strength in bring up them in godly way.
This year Luke’s mission trips include several times to Asia, Middle East and Europe. He continues in evangelism and training among the intellectuals and professionals in most mission fields. God also opened a door for him to minister to many people in Business area in Asia where their business and lives are adversely affected by the economy. This is a great opportunity to share gospel to them and made them reflect on their goals of their life and qualities of their life. Many people have accepted Christ first time and many believers have also renewed their commitment in seeking and serving Him through Luke’s recent services among them in China.

We are very thankful for your faithful prayers, care and supports to us. Without you, we can never do the work He gives to, and we are a team in winning people to Him.
May our Lord richly bless you and your family!
Yours in Christ,

Luke, Jenny, Joseph and Julia
